GLUTATHIONE 20% SERUM
Glutathione is a Antioxidant and Free Radical Scavenger tripeptide made from the amino acids glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. It is produced by the liver and involved in many body processes. Glutathione is involved in tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins needed in the body, and in immune system function. Glutathione plays a central protective role against the damaging effects of bacteria, viruses, pollutants, and free radicals. Without glutathione, other important antioxidants such as vitamins C and E cannot do their job adequately to protect your body against disease. Another major function of glutathione is in the detoxification of foreign chemical compounds such as carcinogens and harmful metabolites. Your bodies’ immune activity, involving unimpeded multiplication of lymphocytes and antibody production, requires maintenance of normal levels of glutathione inside the lymphocytes.
Glutathione is a referred to as the “master anti-oxidant” or “mother of all anti-oxidants”, and it is found in all of our cells. In good health, glutathione levels are high; in every condition of poor health glutathione levels are low. As homocysteine is broken down in the methylation process, glutathione levels increase. Glutathione is the master antioxidant (scavenging free radicals) and master detoxifier. It is especially potent in detoxifying heavy metals such as mercury, aluminum, lead, and cadmium. It also pulls out PCBs and synthetic estrogens. Further, when cells are rich in glutathione, it is more difficult to intoxicate them in the first place.

GLUTATHIONE AS A SKIN WHITENER
Glutathione is always referred to as a skin whitening ingredient. As you can see it does so much more than that. Glutathione is an anti-oxidant, and ALL anti-oxidants have skin whitening properties. Because that’s just one of the attributes that anti-oxidants have, they act on tyrosinase/melanogenesis in some way and/or they remove toxins. And this is what causes the skin whitening effect. The great thing about anti-oxidants skin whiteners is that you can apply the serum/creams all over the area and it will attack the over active melanin (dark spots/freckles/etc) with out having to target the skin issue (i.e. only applying the whitener directly to dark spot) like when using hydroquinone based skin bleaching creams. Use Glutathione to: even skintone, gain a youthful appearance, diminish dark circles, diminish freckles, and smooth skin. If you want ‘significant’ skin whitening (many shades lighter) or if you only want skin whitening with no other benefits. I suggest you use my Hydroquinone 30% skin bleach instead. Incidentally, raising glutathione levels results in lighter skin, you can raise your glutathione levels by taking skin whitening supplements as discussed in my ‘The Best Skin Whitening Pills’ and ‘MSM Skin Whitening’ posts. This works to raise glutathione levels rather ineffectively taking oral glutathione pills.
Glutathione is a ubiquitous compound found in our bodies. Aside from its many ascribed biologic functions, it has also been implicated in skin lightening. Glutathione induced inhibition of tyrosinase glycosylation, blocks the maturation and transfer of tyrosinase from GERL (Golgi-endoplasmic reticulum-lysosome)-coated vesicles to the pre-melanosome. Other mechanisms of action proposed for glutathione include :
• Direct inactivation of the enzyme tyrosinase by binding and chelating copper within the enzyme’s active site
• Mediating the switch mechanism from eumelanogenesis to phaeomelanogenesis, as glutathione participates in the conversion of dopaquinone to pheomelanin. The observed differences in the glutathione and glutathione-related enzyme content between black and yellow (or red) skin provide evidence that the increase of glutathione-reductase activity in the environment of the melanocytes may stimulate the pigment cells to produce phaeomelanin instead of eumelanin pigment. As expected, the lowest levels of reduced glutathione (GSH) were found associated with eumelanin type pigmentation, whereas the highest ones were found in the skin with phaeomelanin producing melanocytes.
• Quenching of free radicals and peroxides that contribute to tyrosinase activation and melanin formation.
• Modulation of depigmenting abilities of melanocytotoxic agents.
• Research results also indicate that glutathione inhibits the synthesis and agglutination of melanin by interrupting the function of L-DOPA. The balance between CysH and GSH, which is partly determined by the rate of utilization of CysH for GSH biosynthesis, regulates not only the levels of 5-S-CD and DOPA but also the melanogenic activity of pigment cells. Since DOPA functions as a cofactor in the monophenolase reaction of tyrosinase, it is proposed that the ratio of 5-S-CD to DOPA may be an important factor in the regulation of tyrosinase activity in situ.

GLUTATHIONE STABILITY & EFFECTIVENESS
Glutathione is destroyed in the presence of acids. Taking oral Glutathione is useless & a waste of money because the stomach acid destroys the Glutathione. Reduced Glutathione is also useless, it’s Glutathione that has been modified and is not effective for skin whitening & anti-aging. You’ll see some reviews of products with all the above issues, stating that “it works” for them. I truly believe that is a placebo effect. The only way you can get full active glutathione into the body/skin to receive its benefit is thru I.V., injection, or topical serums. And with I.V. or topical, no Vitamin-C (ascorbic acid) should be added because it will destroy the Glutathione. Glutathione I.V. is a very popular advanced beauty treatment, very popular in South Korea (the beauty belt) and a lot of experienced DIY beauty individuals do this at home. People take glutathione for other issues like alcohol use disorder, liver disease, heart disease, and many other conditions. You can possibly get glutathione I.V. thru a local physician’s office that has this service available, but they will not be doing it for “skin lightening” purposes. Glutathione

ENHANCE YOUR GLUTATHIONE RESULTS
You can boost the results of topical (or intravenous) Glutathione by taking oral Vitamin-C 6000mg with oral MSM 12,000mg (Methylsulfonylmethane) daily. Don’t mix Vitamin-C serums with Glutathione, acids destroy/deactivate glutathione. Your Glutathione serum will be useless & ineffective if you mix it with any kind of acids. And always make sure your skin stays exfoliated in order to see the most results from any skincare product. Exfoliate with Saliclear for body, and Tretinoin Gel 0.10% for face.
