Sodium Metabisilfite is widely used for preserving food and beverages. It is also used in pharmaceuticals, it is added as an excipient to medications that contain adrenaline (epinephrine) in order to prevent the oxidation. This is a natural sulfur-based preservative will extend the expiration date of your skin bleaching products by preventing further oxidation. Opening and closing your bottle/jar of skin bleach constantly exposes it to the oxygen in the air, eventually you may see your cream/serum turn rose-colored. This indicates that your cream is starting to oxidize, and is going to get darker and darker until it turns completely dark brown. At that point, your cream will no longer be effective for skin lightening. As soon as you see your cream turning, just mix in a little SBS {1 teaspoon of SBS for every 4 fl.oz of cream or serum}. Your cream will instantly turn a yellowish tint and you’ll smell sulfur. You’ve now hit the reset button on your skin bleaching cream!
