ASTAXANTHIN FORM
This is pure Astaxanthin liquid (10% extraction), it has not been diluted with anything this is its natural form. Astaxanthin comes in two forms: powder & liquid. The powder is a dark crimson red color (looks like dried blood) and the liquid is a dark reddish-purple color (somewhat like the inside of a purple sweet potato). Astaxanthin is extracted from freshwater algae, during the extraction process the manufacturer can halt extraction at any percentage. Astaxanthin 1% – 9.99% is still in powder form. But when it reaches 10%, Astaxanthin is liquid form. In actuality, Astaxanthin is neither powder or liquid. Its true form are tiny microscopic micro-spears that appear change from powder to liquid, when extracting 10% Astaxanthin. The Astaxanthin supplements you see in the store is Astaxanthin diluted with other herbs/oils/antioxidants. This Astaxanthin liquid is the concentrated version used to make oral supplements (e.g. This Astaxanthin would be mixed with pomegranate oil to make 12mg gel caps oral supplement) but it is being sold for cosmetic use only.
USING ASTAXANTHIN
Astaxanthin is a potent antioxidant excellent for anti-ageing, acne, and skin whitening. This is a very concentrated form of Astaxanthin (a little goes a long way) Adding astaxanthin to your skin-whitening/ anti-ageing/ acne/ skincare products will boost skin whitening effects and further beautify your skin. Astaxanthin can be added to the skin cream or serum of your choice. Or you can make your own antioxidant skin oil. If you add it to creams/serums, add ½ pump per 8 fl.oz jar of cream/serum. To mix your own antioxidant oil, mix your Astaxanthin with pomegranate seed oil, blueberry seed oil or both. Then add carrot seed, frankincense, and myrrh essential oils (10 drops each per to 8 fl.oz of oil or cream) to you oil and mix thoroughly. This oil mixture is still very concentrated. You can either use this antioxidant oil directly on your skin or add a few drops your favorite skin oils/creams/serums. Keep your antioxidant oil out of direct sunlight and away from heat or it will be ruined. You can purchase your pomegranate seed oil & essential oils from Mountainroseherbs.com
WHAT IS ASTAXANTHIN
Astaxanthin is the most powerful antioxidant on the planet. It is stronger than vitamin-C, vitamin-E, CoQ10, green tea, and beta-carotene! Astaxanthin works in synergy with all other antioxidants, it especially enhances the potency of vitamin-C and vitamin-E. Astaxanthin inhibits melanogenesis, reducing melanin production by 40%! It also removes age spots, freckles, red spots, redness/rosacea/inflammation, and dark eye circles. This is includes both topical and oral astaxanthin.
Antioxidant Power
• 6,000x stronger than Vitamin-C
• 100x stronger than Vitamin-E
• 800x stronger than CoQ10
• 550x stronger than Green Tea (ECGC)
• 10x stronger than Beta-carotene
Astaxanthin’s effect is far superior to vitamin-C, at 6,000x stronger it is guaranteed to whiten skin tremendously. Unfortunately, this is a very expensive ingredient therefore this product contains only 3% Astaxanthin. Fortunately, Astaxanthin is quite effective at only 1%! Astaxanthin is a natural carotenoid produced by microalgae (Haematococcus pluvialis) The natural sources of astaxanthin are algae, yeast, salmon, trout, krill, shrimp and crayfish. The strongest form of Astaxanthin is sourced directly from the Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae.
Astaxanthin powder is crimson colored, it resembles dried powdered blood. Have you ever wondered why salmon, lobster, shrimp, and flamingos are pink? They eat the red colored algae Haematococcus pluvialis. And the more they eat, the deeper darker color pink they become. Under high stress, Haematococcus pluvialis produces a lot of astaxanthin. Haematococcus protects itself against the harmful effects of sunlight and heat (produces more Asaxanthin) and when eaten by animals it transfers it’s red color to its predator when eaten. This is also witnessed when you cook raw shrimp & lobster, they turn bright red because the Haematococcus pluvialis is apparently still actively protecting it self from heat. Asaxanthin production in Haematococcus pluvialis is very similar to melanogenisis in humans, when it is exposed to UV-B light. After Haematococcus pluvialis is digested, the carotenoid pigments in the Astaxanthin dissolves and is absorbed into the animal’s fatty layer of skin, and then is deposited into the growing feathers/scales/shell/etc. of the animal. Then they start growing in red, red-orange, orange, pink and other variations of these colors. If Haematococcus pluvialis microalge is removed from the animal’s food source, the next time they molt the red/pink/orange color will be gone and there will be pale colored feathers/scales/shell/etc. growing in.
Astaxanthin penetrates deep. The lipid soluble (lipophilic) nature of astaxanthin allows it to efficiently penetrate into the cell membrane. Furthermore, the ketone (C=O) and hydroxyl group (OH) attached to the ring makes the two end groups hydrophilic (water loving) so that astaxanthin is specifically oriented into a hydrophilic and hydrophobic position in the cell membrane as shown in the photo. This unique orientation allows astaxanthin to quench reactive oxygen species (ROS – singlet oxygen, superoxides, hydroxyl radicals) more effectively against lipid peroxidation. Also the bridge like structure increases rigidity and mechanical strength of the cell membrane and acts as an excellent stabilizer. Astaxanthin’s cell protection ability compared to other antioxidants is shown in the photo below.
Astaxanthin has multiple skin benefits and multiple helth benefits as well. Astaxanthin stimulates continuous production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is responsible for maintaining skintone, elasticity, and firmness. There have been a number of studies about astaxanthin’s anti-aging effects. One study was conducted over a 12 week period. The result showed substantial improvement in overall skin: 35-59% in wrinkle reduction; Increased skin smoothness; Increased skin miniaturization; Increased elasticity.
Topical & Internal Sunscreen. Astaxanthin has excellent photo-protective benefits. Experiments show that the skin gets considerably less damaged if it is pre-treated with astaxanthin before sun exposure (oral & topical). The skin recovers quickly from sun damage after topical application of astaxanthin. Oral astaxanthin works as an internal sunscreen protecting our skin from UV damage, hence reducing the signs of aging. Astaxanthin can help to reveal your skin’s natural beauty from the inside out.
