Papain:is an enzyme found in papaya that can help remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. Papain is a common ingredient in exfoliating products (i.e. enzyme peeling masques) and can help improve skin texture and tone. It can also help with acne and blemishes by unclogging pores and removing damaged keratin. Papain’s anti-inflammatory properties can also soothe skin irritations. Papain works by breaking down dead skin cells without causing cell turnover like acids can. Because papain is naturally derived, enzyme products containing papain are generally gentler on the skin and less likely to cause irritation or redness.

L-Ascorbic Acid: (vitamin-c) impedes melanin production which fades hyperpigmentation and evens skintone. Hyperpigmentation [which also includes sunspots, age spots, red/dark purple spots from acne (Fitz I-II), and melasma] — occurs when melanin (all types) is overproduced in certain areas of the skin. It can also happen in areas where acne has healed. Ascorbic Acid (vitamin-C) inhibits melanogenesis by downregulating the activity of an enzyme called ‘tyrosinase’. Vitamin-C is widely used in dermatology for it’s many skin benefits, it’s mostly used to reduce hyperpigmentation on the skin. Vitamin-C is also used to treat gingival melanin hyperpigmentation (dark brown or black discoloration of the gums). Vitamin-C is also a water soluble acid (ascorbic acid) that will also lightly exfoliate the skin & cause peeling.

Mandelic Acid: whitens skin in two ways. It inhibits the melanin-producing enzyme tyrosinase to block pigment from forming and helps lift surface pigment through exfoliation. Its large molecular structure slows absorption into the skin, making it the gentlest of the AHAs. It also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to fight acne. Mandelic acid is a particularly good choice for skin of color or sensitive types because of its non-irritating activity.

USAGE

Apply to clean dry skin and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then wash skin thoroughly, dry, then apply moisturizer. Shea butter or Vaseline is best for moisturizing skin after using a peel. This peel can be used daily.
